Back an hour? #ramble

It is Sunday morning and once again I allow you into the darkest recesses of my mind and share my thoughts with you! I need a subject! This is my constant thought. When I’m taking photos I need a subject rather than just pointing my camera at a nice view. My camera needs something to focus on even if it’s only a tree and when I start writing it’s the same thing; I need a subject! I tried to put my clocks back an hour last night. It didn’t work out quite as planned, I must have forgotten to press set when I put the clock back on the heating controller. It was freezing when I woke up!

Freezing rain

I dashed to the car through freezing rain to go to the post box yesterday afternoon to post out some art cards. The more I sell, the more popular they will become because they are really sharp images and good quality cards. I’ve nearly recovered the printing costs and so my art project should make a profit. Maybe it will make a profit this year if not, a few cards might sell at next year’s art festival. I don’t make fixed plans, nature evolves and so do my plans. Nature seems fairly successful at evolving so that can be my role model.

I would feel really stupid writing this blog and doing social media if I couldn’t spell. I make the odd mistake and I have a spell checker, grammar checker and proof-reader to help me avoid such mistakes. It would be embarrassing to make such faux pas as ‘roll model’ or ‘born and bread’ but it’s amazing how often I read such mistakes. When others make such mistakes I never point them out, I might crack a wry smile, I like such amusements. I am very much into the amusing play on words. I like the odd oxymoron like ‘pretty ugly’ and puns amuse me too.

Back an hour?

Anyway, life has gone back an hour today so it will get dark earlier and I’ll get hungry earlier and so quite possibly cook lunch a bit earlier. My body clock isn’t designed for all this change and upset. I saw a joke about cutting six inches off the end of a blanket and sewing it on the other end to make it longer as an analogy of daylight saving. We save nothing but we do have to consider whether we want children to go to school in the dark and walk home in the dark. Maybe we could have longer school days in summer and shorter ones in winter?

I’ve been aware for a long time of structures leaning inwards in my photos such as buildings. I have found out this can be corrected in Photoshop and the images do look better. I might have to learn Photoshop now just so I can correct that aberration caused by wide lenses and certain angles. That will be a steep learning curve and possibly an expensive one as well. For the time being, I’ll avoid that type of shot! I am still considering buying a Nikon D750 for next year. That might be a better use for my money! I’m also considering my next art card. I’ll plan the pictures for the next set. I have a shot of a church in mind and I might even do a set for West Bromwich. Who knows where this artistry might lead? I might even end up doing a set for Darlaston. Finding a scenic view in Darlo might not be so easy, though!

That’s it for today, I’ll end with some pictures. Which one would make a good art card? If you would like to subscribe to my blog, just enter your email address at the top of the sidebar or follow me on Twitter for links to the latest posts. You can also find links on my Facebook page.
