Neodigital Art

Photography | The Manor House

The Manor House

We went to lots of places to take photographs on Sunday. This is the Manor House at West Bromwich. I took this with my Nikon D3200. There was a falconry display in the ground, but the shots of the birds weren’t so good. (more…)

Neodigital Art and photography

A Toll End

Neodigital Art is about taking digital photos and scans and trying to create art. I don’t think this photo is very artistic, it’s nice but not exactly unique. It looks very different from the photo that I took in the same place last winter.

Neodigital Art | Stormy weather

DSC_1909

I had some nice weather in July for photography, but now it’s very changeable. I was taking photos in the storm the other day and as it passed there was a blue sky and I took this one of the church on the hill.

Neodigital Art | Something inspired

Color bridge

I want at least one picture to submit to a summer art exhibition, perhaps next year. I’m thinking of shooting all river and canal pictures. This was taken on the River Tame on Sunday. I did the edit with PhotoScape. It’s unusual because the river has flooded recently. What do you think? Exhibition material? (more…)

Photography | contrasts

DSC_1590

I took this photo on Sunday evening. The weather was just starting to change. Since then we’re had a thunderstorm or two. I took this with my Nikon, it’s difficult to say whether it’s better than a similar shot with the Fuji S5600.

Photographing events

DSC_1401

I went to photograph a carnival on Saturday.  This isn’t my usual subject and I’m not very familiar with the camera and so I decided to just use the standard settings on the camera. I took this shot as soon as I arrived with the camera set on landscape. That means a narrow aperture and more depth of field. (more…)

Neodigital Art | Victoriana

a narrow boat

Neodigital Art is about taking images and editing them to create something artistic. Today, I’m taking images that you might associate with the Victorian era and trying to do some interesting edits. I’ve started with a narrow boat on the canal. I cropped the image a lot, so the subject dominates the picture.

Neodigital Art | High definition editing

A POLICE STATION

I’ve started today with an image of a Victorian police station. The angle of the shot makes it quite imposing and I’ve converted it to grey scale.  It seems to convey a mood and with more editing, it could be used as a book cover.

Artistic or what?

aa poppies

I’ve started today’s post with an artistic image. I’ve actually been invited to submit some for an art exhibition. I think it’s in New York. It’s unfortunate I don’t have enough time to produce some high resolution images for it.

Nikon D3200 | Photographing the park.

DSC_0678

I took delivery of my new Nikon D3200 last week and it has a a much higher specification than my Fujifilm S5600 that I normally use. You can see from this photo that the resolution is much higher at nearly 25 megapixels. The first photos that I took weren’t so good and the editing was very different.

Neodigital Art | Guest pictures and edits

Norfolk Broads Friday 19 April 2013 Windmill

This is a photo that Simon James took on the Norfolk Broads (England) some time ago. I’ve edited it and the main thing was to add contrast. Simon often zooms in too close to the subject, but he has it about right with this photo.

Black Country Art review

a bridge

I’ve come to the end of my art week and so I thought I would start today with an artistic edit. You never know, pictures like this might be displayed in the art gallery one day. We could launch a whole new school of art from here in the Black Country. We could call it, “Flyin’ Pigs”. We could do worse…

Art in the Black Country

The Milky in June

If you are following my blog posts this week, you’ll know I’m having an art week. The region of England where I live, isn’t well known for art. It could be, but someone has to lead a new art movement. I don’t really think the local galleries will provide leadership, they don’t rate the local artists very highly. The great artists come from London, Paris, Vienna, Rome and New York, not Walsall.

Starting your own art collection

Spring flowers 2013 063

Continuing the art week theme. Why not start your own art collection? On a budget of course! All you need to begin, is an A4 picture frame from Poundland and a picture to put in it. Art is about acceptance and so any picture that you like and accept is suitable. Then you can hang it on the wall anywhere you like.

Neodigital Art | The River Tame

Spring flowers 2013 086 edit

Neodigital Art is about editing pictures to create something with emotion. I was quite annoyed when I took this photo, because the sun had gone behind a black cloud. I’ve used colorize in PhotoScape for an artistic edit. What do you think?

The psychology of art

art or photography

What do you think of today’s picture? Art or photography? Andy Warhol once said art is, whatever you can get away with or words to that effect. There have been a lot of art movements. A picture of a tin of Campbell’s soup was recognised as art once. I remember a pile of bricks being passed off as art too.

SUNDAY IN WEDNESBURY 015

The weather has improved a little now that we are closer to summer. I took this shot on Sunday and it was quite sunny. Notice how I’ve used the trees to add depth. I didn’t edit much, I just added some contrast.

Bank holiday blues

Lock and Sandwell Valley 018

Yes, it’s Bank Holiday weekend again and the kids are off school for Whitsun. The Ikea sale will start on Monday and the stupid people will queue along the M6 for that. If you have to go to the  Ikea sale; go next week, it runs until June 23rd.

Neodigital Art | Stylish editing

Lock old photo

I managed to take a few photos on Sunday and so I went back to see this lock-keepers cottage in Walsall. There are some leaves on the trees now and although the sun was going lower, I got a different photograph.

Neodigital Art | What is Art?

DUCKS 004

Pictures were drawn by early man, on the walls of caves with whatever he could find. The earliest pictures were probably done with chalk and maybe charcoal. Some artists still use charcoal. Artists tend to be avant garde, the advanced guard, exploring the new frontiers. They search for new ideas and new mediums.

SQUIRES WALK WEDNESBURY GREY SCALE

This must be my best picture so far in 2013. The angle of the shot is unusual and I think it looks good in grey scale. I did my usual editing and removed a council litter bin, then changed it to grey scale. I did crop quite a lot of the original too.

Neodigital Art | Coloured pencil

Cathedral too

I did this edit from a photo by Simon James. I cropped the photo and then edited with PhotoScape using the coloured pencil option. Neodigital Art is about using digital devices, cameras, scanners and computers to create something different.

Neodigital Art | Getting creative with PhotoScape

A The Milky

The whole idea of art is to experiment and use your creativity to the maximum. You might not get it right every time, but you can create something and then just see how it looks. I’m getting really creative this week, with PhotoScape.

Neodigital Art | Defining Art

A CART

I used this picture last week and it was suggested that a colour version might look better. I did a lot of editing on this, cropping it and changing it to a watercolour image. I also edited out the cars in the background again.
