Challenges and images #ramble

It’s Sunday morning once again and so I’ll share my thoughts with you. I run the History of Wednesbury page on Facebook and since Brexit the nationalists insist that the page is political even though I only promote tolerance and liberal thinking. That sort of idealism challenges the liberal-minded but it is best to just ignore them and not feed the trolls. I have at least encouraged them to moderate their language by banning one for using obscenities.

Talking of challenges, this week’s challenge from 64 Million Artists will be set by me. The challenge is to do your own little art exhibition. That could be by sticking pictures to your noticeboard or your fridge or whatever. The real challenge is to think laterally and come up with something original. I think I’ll do an exhibition right here on my blog. I am planning another real exhibition of photographs but need a way of attaching them to a wall without damaging the paintwork. I’ve been experimenting with double-sided tape. Whether it damages the paintwork seems to depend on the quality of the paintwork so I have to be cautious!

Manor House

I was hoping to go to West Bromwich Manor House today to take some photos and I think the rain has just stopped so I might be going after all. Of all of life’s challenges, the weather can make photography difficult. I hope to photograph the Christmas lights and a steam train passing through next month but my camera isn’t waterproof so I’ll just hope for the best.

Social Media

People think social media management is easy and I have been told in no uncertain terms that I don’t know what I’m doing but the Facebook pages I run are doing well. The exception is my Facebook page for A Zillion Ideas. So I’ve linked that to Instagram and I’ll try to promote it more. Doing the 64 Million Artists challenge this week might help a little too. There are a number of techniques that work for improving reach on a Facebook page and you have to try to second guess the Facebook algorithm. I seem to keep ahead of the game and do better than similar pages and groups.

Challenges and images

So my life is all about accepting and creating challenges and creating images now. The images are my photographs but my blog and social media channels have an image too. I hope that is a liberal-minded image and a tolerant one.

That’s all for this week’s ramble. I’ll be posting again tomorrow and creating an exhibition. On Tuesday, the subject will be photography.
