Darlaston Pubs (in the Black Country).

King’s Hill is on the Wednesbury side of Darlaston. This is the Forge Tavern in Franchise street. It used to be a very popular pub, but I haven’t been in for years.

If you walk up Franchise Street a little way, you have the Cottage Spring. I used to pop in here once a week. They have a nice lounge.

horse & Jockey

A short walk from the Cottage Spring is the Horse and Jockey on the Walsall road. This well known pub is in the process of being renovated. I understand that it will soon be painted in racing green rather than black.

The Vine Inn

Not too far from there is The Vine Inn, with it’s selection of real ales and you can enjoy your beer outside in a pleasant terraced yard.

On the way to the Vine, you could drop in at the Frying Pan. This is the pub where all the horse and trotting enthusiasts meet on a Sunday afternoon. There will be a charity bike ride a week on Saturday and I’ll be doing my best to be there to photograph that.

    • I used to use the Black Horse all the time. It was a good pub years ago. I don’t drink so much now.
