Delving into the archive. #photography

I have an archive of photographs on my hard drive and also one on my website server and I have flash drives and external disk drives too. I can delve into these archives when I need a photo to promote something in particular. I created a vectored graphic logo to overlay onto photos of my local park to use on the Facebook page. I want to raise the profile of the park and encourage people to use it.

Sunny days

We have sunny days now and lots of light but the light is quite harsh and the photos I have taken of the park this week weren’t so good. The lush green manicured lawns are starting to look scorched by the sun so I turn to my archive for pictures.

This is a WordPress website (Jetpack) and so I have a media database that I can search for pictures of the park too which is easier than searching the archive on my disk drives. I find things change too and the above picture of the picnic area in the park is one I took just after the rain in 2013. It looks a lot less lush now.

Besides keeping a record of places and adding the images to my archive. I also want to keep a record of people. I’ve started asking people if they will let me take their photo. I find this difficult because I’m more introverted than many photographers who do that type of photography but I think the photos will be of value in the future. I hope my archive will survive long after me and bring a little pleasure to future generations.

That’s all for this week. I have been posting less and getting behind. I’ll try to make more of an effort! If you would like to follow my blog just enter your email address at the top of the sidebar or follow me on Twitter for links to the latest post. I think I have figured out the latest Facebook algorithm and you can also find links on my Facebook page.  The weather now isn’t ideal for photography but it hardly ever is, so enjoy the fine weather anyway!
