Experiments in photography and art
This was one of my favourite photos and so I had it printed on canvas, 30 inches by 20 inches. Notice that I added a border for them to wrap around the frame. I took this at Forge Mill Farm in Sandwell Valley Country Park.
Using a little editing, you can make quite boring pictures look artistic. I think I used a filter as well as editing, for this image. You simply experiment until you get something that you like.
You can experiment with lenses too. I took this shot with a 300mm lens fitted and it’s a photograph I would choose to enter in a competition.
This was a Boer war re-enactment when the light was poor. I simply experimented with sepia for these images.
As this before and after shows, you can work miracles in editing. I use Windows Live Gallery for basic editing and sometimes use PhotoScape for the more artistic experiments.
Sometimes you just get lucky! I took this shot with my Fujifilm S5600 when the light burst through the trees for a moment. I think the editing was fairly minimal. I like all the different shades of green. This was in the finals of a photography competition and a print was made of it. That hangs on the wall in the local hospital. That shows you don’t need an expensive camera.
Which picture do you like best? As you may have guessed, I didn’t take any photographs this week, I have influenza. I have quite a few images to choose from though! Please comment and tell me the one you like… You can also follow me on Twitter…
