History and art #Sundayramble

It is Sunday morning once again and so I allow you into the labyrinth of neurons and share my thoughts with you. What’s on my mind this week? I went to the local history event at Glebefields library yesterday and met up this Chris and Jan of Caravan Gallery fame. They were taking photographs for the Blast photography festival. It was an interesting outing but I did get a bit lost around the lost city. We were looking for the horses that are always tethered there but didn’t see any. It really was a history and art outing.

Tombola

I won a photo album on the tombola. Strangely enough, that wasn’t the first time I have won photography related things on the tombola.

Fluorescent light

This was my first time under council fluorescent light with my new camera and I am very pleased with the pictures. I had to raise the ISO quite high and so my pictures of people are a little pinky but not bad at all. I really liked the pictures I took outside.

History and art

I’m interested in history and art and so it was a great outing and even my pictures the lost city housing look nice. I am contributing pictures to the Sandwell Pride of Place Project and in doing that I combine history and art taking photos of historically important places.

St Mark Church

St Mark’s church was typical of that combination of history and art. It is built in blue brick and the bricks were made in Tipton. Some art aficionados might scoff at me referring to images like this as art but  I think local people can identify we images they are familiar with and would probably appreciate the skill of the photographer.

That’s all for today. I’m hoping the fog will clear by this afternoon now. If you would like to subscribe to my blog just enter your email address at the top of the sidebar or follow me on Twitter for links to the latest posts.
