Life presents so many challenges #ramble

This week I was challenged to post an ‘artistic picture’ a day on Facebook by a fellow artist. I’ve been doing that and I’m now on day three. I like challenges and tomorrow I’ll do the weekly challenge from 64 Million Artists, as well. Of course, life presents many challenges and more so now, as we try to avoid becoming infected with Covid-19. Getting information so we can assess the risk is a challenge in itself. I have found out that there have been about 10 deaths in the council ward that I live in. I believe there are more than 50 people carrying the virus in the town I live in, who are symptomatic, asymptomatic or pre-symptomatic. I am vulnerable to the virus, as are all people over the age of 45. I also have health problems that make me vulnerable. I’m taking this challenge seriously.

I have included a little joke into my ‘artistic’ picture but Covid-19 is no joke. I’m taking it seriously unlike those people that have been meeting up to protest or worse, meeting up for a ‘rave’. The biggest idiot of all, Donald Trump, is gathering together thousands of people for a campaign rally this weekend. He has no empathy for those Americans who are vulnerable to Covid-19 and the strategy, if there is one, seems to be to allow people to become infected. The strong will acquire immunity and the weak will struggle to even survive. Trump has the mind-set of a tyrant, of a sociopath and will attract like-minded people to his rally this weekend. He should have invited, Nigel Farage, Tommy Robinson and a few other British sociopaths to his little party.

I have been in isolation for 3 months and my contact with people was mainly through Facebook and those right-wing bullies were becoming too much of a challenge. Familiarity breeds contempt and I decided to put some distance between myself and some users on Facebook. I’m not engaging with them now and have realised trying to reason with them is like trying to get Donald Trump to respect people of different cultures. He once called Republicans stupid enough to vote to anyone. He got that right. He twists the knuckle- draggers around his little finger.

I am pleased that not everyone has been irresponsible or selfish. Many people have responded to the pandemic by volunteering to help others. Volunteering enhances our sense of self-worth and makes our communities stronger. Volunteers have a strong moral compass and compassion and empathy for their fellow man. I watched a video of Barak Obama giving a  speech to the UK parliament some years ago. He spoke well and his character couldn’t be further away from that of the present president. Obama didn’t get everything right but he rose to the challenges of being president with compassion.

That’s all for today. I’ll try to go out today but I will keep my distance from my fellow man! If you would like to subscribe to my blog just enter your email address in one of the spaces provided.
