Lockdown day 45 #ramble

It’s Sunday morning and lockdown day 45. On Friday, new daily challenges began from 64 Million Artists. I did the challenges on Friday and yesterday but I must admit I’m not keen on today’s challenge but I can always skip a day.  I post my images in the group for 64 Million Artists. I’ve also been posting my photographs that I’ve been taking to document my time in isolation in the Sandwell Pride of Place group on Facebook. The images seem popular. I’m telling a story and everyone likes stories. Right?

History of Wednesbury

I’ve run the History of Wednesbury page for 5 years but I think I’ve had enough now. Some of the followers prefer the previous admin and are blatantly critical of me and seize every opportunity to undermine me. This is a critical time, we’re in the middle of a pandemic and we need the community to come together but some people just like to create division. It only takes one idiot who thinks they know better than the experts and this epidemic could go into a second wave. We have a lot of idiots in this community. I have been impressed with the health minister and I think Matt Hancock has been competent in his role. Much more so than Bumbling Boris. I’m concerned about what will happen next at a local level.

Exit strategy

We need an exit strategy from this lockdown. In theory, when the over 70s come out of lockdown we should be able to mix with each other. In other countries older people are allowed out at a certain time each day. However, I have become aware of some older people breaking the rules so can we be certain that they are not infected? We can’t. I think I’ll be very careful when I come out of lockdown and continue to have food delivered and maybe get more exercise by going out and doing my photography. I’ll avoid close contact with people and avoid crowded places. I’ll try to avoid those idiots as much as possible too.

In the garden

I’m growing things to give myself something to do. I have some runner bean plants, potatoes growing in pots and in the garden and some tomato plant seedlings. I think I’ll do some work in the garden today.

lockdown day 45

I’m aware that this is lockdown day 45. I’m been isolated for over six weeks without human contact except for talking briefly to my sister through the window and a few phone calls. They put people in isolation as a punishment in prison. I do have a garden and that has made all the difference. My friend in Hong Kong is in quarantine for 14 days and confined to her hotel room. That must be more lonely and difficult. We have to make adjustments and learn to cope with confinement. We’ll have to learn to cope with a diffirent way of life that is less social too.

That’s all for this week. Stay home and stay safe. If you would like to subscribe to my blog just enter your email address in one of the spaces provided or follow me on Twitter for links to the latest posts. Those links are also on my Facebook page.
