Nature and gardening #nature

I don’t usually write a post today but regular readers know I’m a community photographer and I like to get out and photograph the local beauty spots. I like nature and it is my intention in the coming weeks to get out there and get some exercise as well as doing the photography. My garden is a bit of a jungle partly because it attracts wildlife and partly because I’m too old and disabled to do it any more. I would be really into gardening otherwise.

I like nature and gardening

I still compost all my waste even though I don’t really need compost and I have really good soil. Until a couple of years ago, I was growing tomatoes and runner beans and I did grow potatoes until I got to the stage that I could dig them up. Gary has a website all about caring for houseplants at Plant Care Today. He has a very slick website with lots of advertising and he wants me to give him a link and send him more readers, obviously. I think he needs to write shorter posts that are between 300 and 1,000 words and think about his keywords more carefully. He also needs to target his audience a little. I target my audience and try to get local readers. The other thing that he can do is get links from a bigger website. I have links from a regional newspaper that has a daily readership of over 200,000. That works and brings me more readers.

The gardening mentor

Kevin Rodrigues calls himself the gardening mentor. His website is called The Gardening Mentor which is a good name for a gardening website. Well done Kevin, you thought of a good one! He writes posts about all aspects of gardening and asked me to promote his post about making compost.

When I was a kid and the council cut all the verges we used to scrounge the grass cutting, loads of the stuff and make compost with them. In those days the mil was delivered by horse and cart and the ‘oss muck as it was called in those days went to composting as well! I know a bit about aerobic compost making, Kevin!

Kevin writes very long posts as well. In fact, some of his posts are like a small book on gardening. People live busy lives and might have 5 or ten minutes spare and so like to read short posts. I read a lot but it is often between doing something else. Most of what I read is online these days.

Anyway, that’s it for today. I’m over my 300-word minimum and it’s a nice short read that people can fit in between other jobs. If they are houseplant enthusiasts or need a gardening mentor they can click the links!

My next post will be finance and investments on Friday and will be about those small pharmaceutical companies that have been making me money this week!
