Neodigital Art | Artistic editing

Narrowboats at Wednesbury

You can do some interesting things with PhotoScape. I edited this picture and made it mono to give a old fashioned look. I took it earlier in the year and the light was really poor. It looks quite interesting and artistic now. What do you think? I added text to the picture too, that can be useful.

You can use the colorize option but not make the whole picture monochrome. I set it on about 50% for this picture. The light was bad the day I took this too, now I have a interesting, but not very pretty picture.

Wednesbury Pool monochrome

Monochrome doesn’t have to be black and white, try different colours. I find a colour that is predominant anyway works. In a picture like this it could be the green of the trees or the blue of the water.

Brunswick Park

Try subtle shades. I think this green works well in this picture of the park and the lodge. Looking at the picture it’s not immediately obvious that the black and white beams on the lodge are now different shades of green.

Why not download PhotoScape and have a go, you could get a winter picture and edit it to look cool and add Merry Christmas to it. You can crop it so it fits the header on your Facebook timeline. If you do that, add the text over to the right of the picture or it gets obscured by your profile picture.

You can send me picture to the address in the sidebar for inclusion in future blogs. Please comment if you have a suggestion or a question.

  3. The canal boats and the picture with the house are my favorites in this article. I really like the effects in those, as well as the subjects of the photos.

The green in the water looks like there was a very bad chemical spill. I sure wouldn’t want to go anywhere near that lake if it were that color in real life!

You should grab image from Flickr that are available on Creative Commons to be modified. You can find plenty of material there!

  4. Hi Carolyn,

Looking at them now, I like the park picture the best. I might have overdone it with the narrow boats, but the light was bad for that shot.

I have a lot of pictures, I’m sorting through older ones now, I’m waiting for better light. I must get out there earlier, the sun was too low in the sky again today. I have grabbed a few off the internet to play with!
