Neodigital Art | Guest Edit

colorized 4

I usually use my own photographs for these neodigital art blogs or guest photos, but this week I have something different. Carolyn over at the Wonder of Tech sent me two photos to have a go at editing. They were virtually monochrome and so I decided to colorize with Smoothdraw 3 and touch them up a little. This is one of the edits, I did a few!

This is the original, which was challenging. It was shot in low light and so there is some graining especially top left and on the path. It looks better on a black background!

This is another edit, again colorized but a different colour.

This is the other original and even more difficult to edit! It seems less grainy though. I had to turn this one the right way around too, so it’s portrait. I prefer landscape shots for my blog.

On Windows Live gallery there is a feature to make a photo ‘warmer’ (adding reds) or ‘cooler’ (adding blues). I used the warmer feature and increased the saturation, added contrast and finally cropped some of the bottom for this edit. It is different. Is it better?

Finally, one of mine that I took yesterday. I went through that gate looking for a different access to the river and the trees formed what looked like a tunnel. When I looked back there was an even better shot with the gate at the end of the ‘tunnel’. Not a great picture, but it does look intriguing. It was a very white light again and so I avoided a white cloudy sky. This year I had better light in the winter, than we have had this summer.

I hope you liked today’s pictures, please comment and you can contribute to a zillion ideas by writing a guest blog or sending in photos.
