Neodigital Art | Monochrome

Neodigital Art is about using digital devices to create art. I used a camera and then edited with a computer to create this picture. I decided to change it to monochrome, this works well with man-made structures. This has a slight green tint to it. I used Smoothdraw 3 and the colorize option to do this.

Sandwell Valley

I’ve used the same program and technique for this picture of a building. It looks grey at first glance, but has a slight pink tint.

Milky Pool Millfields

This picture is more obvious and has a blue tint. It’s interesting, but I’m not sure if it’s an improvement on the original.

I think the technique definitely works in this picture. It seems more suitable for unusual or historic buildings.

Vintage Darlo

You can also use the ‘vintage’ option on Fotosketcher to make a photo not just mono, but make it look vintage too. I touched this photo up a little, getting rid of cars and a keep left sign.

I hope you liked today’s pictures. Why not have a go yourself, it’s not difficult. I used Windows live gallery, Fotosketcher and Smoothdraw 3 for editing today’s pictures. Those software packages are all free, so you don’t have to spend money to be an artist! If you come up with something good, send it to me at the email address in the side bar and I’ll feature it! I’m thinking of reviewing different camera types soon. What do you think?

There are more amazing blogs on the home page, please look around. I need more readers as always so please share on Facebook or click ‘like’.

  1. Hi Mike, Wow, I think these effects work especially well with England’s beautiful historic buildings. I also like the blue effect on the lake. It’s amazing how these filters can really set the mood for the photos!

I would like to read about different cameras. Two of my daughters are becoming interested in photography and their birthdays are coming up this month.

    • Hi Carolyn,

I wondered if the blue was too dark, but it contrasts against the white swans.

I shall have to do some info on different types of cameras, even the cheap compact ones are useful for opportunist shots.

I don’t have any new pictures so had to do something artistic! 🙂
