No such thing as perfect

There is no such thing as perfect

Sometimes I’ll look at a photograph that I’ve taken and see lots wrong with it and consider just deleting it. There is no such thing as perfect. We just have to do our best and then have to accept what we have.

It’s the same looking in the mirror for many people. You might be able to make your hair look better, dress better or in the case of women apply a little make up, but you’ll never be perfect. Even perfect wouldn’t be perfect, it’s the laughter lines and the little wrinkles that show you have a personality.

We create facial lines when we scowl and when we laugh and those lines betray whether we are happy or miserable. A lack of facial lines simply indicates we haven’t lived yet.

I suppose it’s the same with body weight. Does overweight suggest we enjoy our food or does it suggest a lack of self control? I suppose it could be a little of both. My expanding waistline is simply because of my age!

One person’s beauty can be another person’s ugliness. I can see a field that is wild and untamed, with grass overgrown and wild flowers taking back that which belongs to nature. Another person will complain and see an uncontrolled ‘disgrace’ that needs cutting and weeding.

The rain can be annoying in this country and a cause for complaint, but in a country cursed by drought, rainfall is a blessing. The same applies to the hot sun on a summer’s day, it can be a curse to some people who suffer because of the high pollen count and a blessing to others who will strip off and sunbathe for hours, quite contented. There is never a perfect day; there is no such thing as perfect.

There is no such thing as perfect

The same applies to our lives, others may appear to be better off and have perfect lives; but we all have our worries, problems and fears. In life, there is no such thing as perfect. If we try to live it as best we can and be content with the result, we will have fairly contented lives. If we chase impossible dreams and aspire to a perfect life, we will always be disappointed. Being quite satisfied with what we have is usually as good as it gets.

Imperfection often teaches us something. We notice things that are out of place. When I clean and polish my car, I often miss a bit and find I have to polish later when I notice it. We can walk down a street that has just been cleaned and we won’t notice anything until we see that one piece of litter that someone has dropped, spoiling our perceived  perfection.

I think I’ll finish with a few imperfect photos, because there is no such thing as perfect. Please share your thoughts in the comments box. You can also follow me on Twitter or follow this blog by entering your email address in the space provided in the sidebar.
