Save money ideas #thrifty
This week I have money saving ideas on A Zillion Ideas! This post is usually on my WordPress blog, but now I’m consolidating my posts in one place. I hope you like the changes. Read on to save money!
The Aldi super six this week are Galia melon, mini bananas (7), oranges, large vine tomatoes (500g), white mushrooms (380g) and mixed peppers (3). They are all 69p each and the offer continues until Thursday 18th of June. Those will save money!
The top special buy today is a sonic fresh toothbrush (£25) and there is also a permanent hair removal gadget (£99.99). There are lots more assorted special buys on that web page.
The special buys on Sunday are for all of you still doing your spring cleaning and includes a mop and a telescopic window cleaner.
It’s the summer solstice in a few weeks and many of us are thinking about summer and cheap (or free) days out. If you want your day out to be cheaper, rather than buy food when you’re out, why not take a picnic? You can do some special (but not expensive) treats like chicken drumsticks, cold sausage with salad or special drinks like iced tea.
If you’re a regular reader, you know I’m a keen photographer. If you want to keep the kids amused a cheap camera will enable them to capture their childhood in pictures and be a great hobby that’s really frugal. Photography used to be expensive in the days of film. Now digital photography allows us to take photos all day and all we need then is somewhere to store them. Set the camera on the smallest size photo and storage isn’t such a problem. Check out Google Photos for online storage.
With summer coming, we need summer clothes too. I like Matalan, but the styles aren’t quite so good this year so I’ll keep shopping around. They are good for basic tee shirts. I’ve found Asda has some bargains too in it’s George range.
Retro clothes are very fashionable and can be found in charity shops and on market stalls. They are so popular some stores are doing reproduction retro! I saw straw hats on the Aldi website and Matalan do cheap hats too.
One great way to save money is to ask around your friends and family to acquire things like music and videos. I have a few videos I’ve been given and I recently acquired some cassette tapes that are useful because I still have a cassette player in my car. I recently bought a boom box too and made sure it had a cassette deck as well as a CD drive so I can copy CD’s to listen to them in my car. I also burn MP3’s to CD and then copy them to cassette.
I have runner beans planted in the garden and growing fruit and vegetables can save money too. There is still time to start growing salad for the summer. Grow your own to save money!
Cooking is a great way to save money. Treating the family to a barbecue at the weekend can work out cheaper than treating them to fish and chips and is more of a social occasion.
That’s it for this week. Do you have any save money ideas? Please share your thrifty and frugal ideas in the comments box. You can subscribe to this blog using the widget at the top of the sidebar or follow me on Twitter for updates.
