Out in the spring sunshine #ramble

Yes, it’s Sunday morning again and so once again I’ll let you into the dark labyrinth that is my mind and share my thoughts once again. I didn’t really have a good week but the sun’s shining and I’m thinking of going out to enjoy the spring sunshine.

Spring sunshine

The Black Country isn’t the prettiest place to live but there are worse places and I know a few places I can go to take photos today. West Bromwich Manor House is quite scenic and so I might take a look at the Vintage Fair that’s on there today.

Volunteering

Volunteering is on my mind this morning too. Volunteer’s week is from the 1 – 7 th of June and offers people a way to get involved and improve society. Many people I know seem selfish and they just refuse to do anything without reward. Volunteering isn’t working for no reward, there are lots of rewards. First of all volunteering improves your self-esteem and it helps you widen your social circle. With the right attitude you can also learn a great deal and gain experience of doing new things. I’m involved with the local community and mostly do publicity and photography. These are things that I can do without a lot of physical effort which can be a bit of a strain at my age! I think more young people should get involved with local organisations. I should have done it years ago!

Art

Bloomin’  lovely – Bluebells in the Hedgerow by Mike Maynard

I’ve entered a print of this picture in the local art competition. I had it printed 24 inches wide on canvas and I’ve fitted it with mirror plates. I’ve spent money to do this artwork and I don’t have funding but we need to support and promote local art. The philistine might say it is not Claude Monet’s “Blue Water Lilies”. No it is not, but we are in the 21st century and Monet’s works need to be archived for a while to make way for the artists of this century with their digital devices rather than 19th century brushes and palette. If you double-click that picture it comes up full size and you can see the detail and appreciate how big a large print could be. I could have that blown up to 4 feet wide and it would still look good.

Looking for a car

I’m still looking for a ‘new’ car. I think the prices are getting lower for what I want. I might be able to afford a 2015 Vauxhall Astra. I’ll go to look at it today. It may have been sold but it is worth having a walk around in the sunshine.

That’s my day planned and I’m running earlier than usual. Vintage Fair, Car showroom followed by a country walk and landscape photography. We have spring sunshine and so why not? There is a chill in the air but what can we expect it is only May and still a month left of spring. What are you doing with your day? Will you be out in the spring sunshine?
