Sunday morning checklist #ramble

It’s Sunday morning and so once again I’ll let you into my neural labyrinth and share my thoughts with you. What’s on my mind this morning? Too much, according to my doctor, who says I worry too much. The doctor at the hospital thought I needed surgery on my hip. I wasn’t convinced and needed a second opinion. My GP said I worry too much and to see the surgeon. Fortunately, the surgeon agrees with me but to be sure he referred me for an MRI scan. That is today. It’s a private company and those scanners are expensive so they use it 7 days a week. So why do I need a checklist?

I need a checklist so I don’t forget anything! I’m wearing jogging pants because there is no zip or other metal bits. I will have to leave my keys (2 sets), watch, phone, wallet and glasses behind because they all contain metal! They can all go in my briefcase which I’ll leave somewhere. I also need a pocket full of pound coins for the parking. Also on my checklist is petrol, check, I have about 24 litres in the car. I will also make sure my phone has a full charge before I leave. Is that overdoing it? I do have a charger in my car. I will also have to have lunch earlier and perhaps the most important of all, take various medication at the correct times. Have I forgotten anything? I have a few hours to check! Surgeons use a checklist to make sure they don’t make mistakes and so do pilots on take-off. I’m not being over-cautious, I’m just making sure I don’t forget anything! Perhaps I need another checklist for when the scan is over so I remember to pay for the parking and drive home?

Colour pick

Today’s picture uses a colour-pick. I actually picked red and so it should have been monochrome with the red light on the cars in red but I seem to have yellow as well. It might attract a bit of attention on Twitter. If you look carefully, you can see raindrops on my windscreen.

Sandwell Pride of Place Project

The photography competition that was part of the Sandwell Pride of Place project finished and the images are being judged. I was asked to choose my top 10 which wasn’t as easy as it sounds. It was made harder by the fact I am familiar with the work of a few of the photographers. I chose 9 pictures and then the 10th one was really hard and I had to consider things like technical ability. Chris and Jan of the Caravan Gallery will choose their pictures and I think someone from Multistory will too.  It is a great opportunity for the photographers who entered to have their work exhibited and to be part of the Blast festival of photography, walks and talks.

I won’t be going on any walks with my bad leg. I have an app on my phone that counts my steps and I have no chance of reaching the daily target of 10,000 steps. I nearly managed 1,000 last Sunday but that was quite painful when I had to cross the road in a hurry. Even driving was painful after that. I need a checklist before I do anything these days! I not only have to consider how far I have to walk to get somewhere but also how far is it to walk back!

That’s all for today. I might manage some photography today after all. It stays light in the evening until 8 o’clock. I’ll think about it while I’m having that scan.
