Finance Friday: Red lights are flashing?

“Six years on from the financial crash that brought the world to its knees, red warning lights are once again flashing on the dashboard of the global economy.” says David Cameron.

For many people the red lights never stopped flashing, in fact they see black smoke coming out of the exhaust… (more…)

Finance Friday: New Year financial resolutions

If you want to be better off in 2014 then you need to make a few financial New Year’s resolutions. David Cameron says we need to do more, with less. Maybe, that is the right idea. Maybe, in our personal finances we can look for better value – value for money. Perhaps, we can also cut waste and be more forward looking. (more…)

Is utilitarianism the answer?

I took this photo of West Bromwich library last Sunday. It’s quite an ornate building. A lot of work went into it. Do you think it was worth it? Did they make it to last? David Cameron said that as a country Britain needs to “Do more with less.” Perhaps we could make more things to last; invest for the future and waste less.  Do we need things fancy though or more utilitarian? River Tame

Today’s photo is of Spring. No, not this Spring! This was last Spring, the sun was shining and the River Tame was lined with millions of flowers! There were bluebells in the woods, blossom on the trees and it was Spring. What do we have this year?

The need for opportunities for all

SCENIC OCTOBER 017

I’m feeling my age this morning, maybe it’s the weather. It’s dark and miserable and it’s not even winter yet. I was awake early and so missed out on some sleep. I crawled out of bed uttering the usual “Oh, God” as the cold air hit me. I really should put my clean underwear on the radiator to warm up this weather. I’ll try to get in the habit of doing that as winter approaches; there’s nothing like pulling on a clean warm pair of boxers on an cold icy morning…

Leadership and Art

Walsall Art Gallery

I usually post a guest blog on a zillion ideas and write a blog for my WordPress blog on a Sunday. This week I have to write two blogs and later I hope to visit the art gallery in the picture. They have a Damien Hirst exhibition. I am going to see the suspended sheep preserved in formaldehyde. They hope to spend a quarter of a million soon trying to attract the Turner prize to the gallery.
