By Fairy Dharawat

Last year there was a row over a picture depicting a women with a sign, “this is what feminism looks like” which received lot of attention. The picture was later shared widely from one of Facebook groups whose followers posted unsavoury comments (http://themaggieyoung.blogspot.in/2013/08/no-hope-for-human-race-slays-three.html ). Whats in a name?

By Fairy Dharawat

clip_image002

“What’s in a name? That which we call a rose, by any other name would smell as sweet.” ― William Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet.

The phrase by William Shakespeare says that person matters and not the name. But every name has a story, and sometimes even a legacy. Take for example your name. How did you get your name? Ask your parents and they will give you a small and in some cases a delightful story.

A guest post by Fairy Dharawat

Mémoire writing always fascinates me. Reading your memoire is like a time capsule – a peek in to your past at a particular time. It is interesting to write about a part of your life which gives you a glimpse of how you have grown. What is CRM?

CRM (customer relationship marketing) is a marketing model carried out based on research and findings of customer’s behaviour and buying patterns. When does the shopper shop? How often do they make trips to the store? What are the usual items that they prefer and what is their purchasing power? All this data is collected through point of sale.

A week of writing, art and photography

Bridge over to Moorcroft Wood

The sun came out a little this week and so I was able to take a few photographs. This one is the bridge over to Moorcroft Wood. The sun was quite low in the sky, so the light is unusual. That is the canal of course! Autumn is here now and I must go and take a look at Moorcroft Wood and many other places, the Autumn colours will arrive quickly this year.

Facebook addictions…

Fairy Dharawat:

“I like him.” “Let me send him a Facebook request.” “He did not accept my Facebook request” Has this ever made you miserable? “Hey a green signal! Let me chat with that cute guy, “hii!!” (No reply) “Hey u thr!!” (Gone Offline)  Have you found yourself in any of these situations? If yes, then welcome to the club. This is what happens when you stay on Facebook for the longest time. Let me take you to the world of some people on Facebook who are, can I use the word? Yes I can, addicted.

The weeks blogs review

BLACK COUNTRY 057

The summer seems to have returned to England at long last. I took this photo the other night, with the sun shining through the trees. It seems a popular picture, perhaps because it excites the imagination. Maybe it’s the unusual angle. I took it from the top of the aqueduct. I get nervous of heights and of deep water so I wasn’t very comfortable. I also wrote a few blogs this week, that you might like to read. Just up the road from there, the river crosses the road under a bridge and then runs alongside the lake separating it from the playing fields and the canal. There’s a 700 year old Manor House down the road in Hall Green Road. You can just see a bit of the 18th century aqueduct in the picture.

All shoppers come now under this category as many find retailers themselves in the vulnerable position of not able to decode the shopper. A shopper may spend a thousand bucks on a mundane item which would indicate no peculiar habit to learn from. The influencing factors are changing like the changing seasons. Just think about yourself what kind of brand is going to make you shell out that insane amount of money?

There are many different types of shopper, but all that comes later. Let’s try to understand the primary shoppers, who are male and female shoppers. Another week of ideas

Wednesbury 036

I took a few photographs this week, but it rained a lot of the time. In Moorcroft Wood, it was muddy and so I didn’t venture far into the woodland. I had a few ideas to blog about though. I hope to do better this week if I have some new photographs and it stops raining. Wimbledon is over and so it could brighten up now! I’ll do a roundup of this weeks ideas and you can choose the ones that you fancy reading through Sunday. (more…)

To study what influences the shopper of today is difficult. This has a lot to do  with the many different categories of shoppers. Some categories are not even identified, but they exist in our world of retail. The wanderer shopper is one who has no need to come to the store, but comes rather for the feel of a community. The impulsive shopper is one who visits and buys products on a whim. (more…)

Introduction to design thinking

A guest blog by Fairy Dharawat

While researching for a new topic for today’s writing, I came across the word ‘design’. The word made me curious, curious as to its meaning. Design has always being stereotyped as something beautiful and is often thought of with a limited vision of dealing with everything beautiful; say a pattern in dress, fashion designing; nice interior, interior designing; art, moveable design. But design is much more than a few vocational professions. Design is about planning and execution. (more…)
