Britain’s image as a green and pleasant land has been turning into a tarnished image for quite some time. Now there is a nasty nationalist fever sweeping the land as the referendum on Europe approaches. This fever seems to be headed up by the infamous nastiness of Iain Duncan Smith and Michael Gove, aided and abetted by those creepy clowns, Nigel Farage and Boris Johnson. (more…)
The English summer of 2013
We had a cold spring this year, which added to our heating bills, but summer is more like summer now. In the heart of England, this now seems quite unusual. While I’m enjoying the better weather, I am worried about the water pressure. I think they’ve probably reduced it so people will use less water. My shower won’t work! “Wealthy elderly people who do not need benefit payments to help with fuel bills or free travel should voluntarily return the money to the authorities, the work and pensions secretary says.” (BBC News) I don’t know. Buckingham Palace is a big place to keep warm, they need their winter fuel payments. They hardly use their bus passes anyway…
