So it’s 2017, I wasn’t expecting to live this long or I would have looked after myself better. Last night my phone said ‘emergency calls only’. I thought maybe the network was overloaded with people wishing each other happy new year. It seems the sim has developed a fault. I have ordered a new one online. My new year isn’t off to a very good start.
It is not only Sunday morning but Christmas day too. Of course, I’m still writing blogs what else would I do on a Sunday morning? I share my thoughts on a Sunday morning and the fact that it is Christmas won’t change that. The year is coming to an end and so I can reflect on the year and set goals for 2017. So far 2017 looks promising but challenging, but that’s life, isn’t it? We have to take the rough with the smooth.
What do you think of today’s photo? Are you impressed? Probably not, we have to do something outstanding these days to impress people. We do need to impress people, to gain some recognition that we are worthwhile. (more…)
I like this image, it says pantomime doesn’t it? It has a Victorian look to it as well which we associate these days with Christmas films on television. We know there was poverty and suffering in the Victorian era, but we mostly associate it with Dickensian images of snow falling on quaint streets of shops, hansom cabs and ladies and gentlemen in their finery. (more…)
It’s Monday morning and I’m not exactly enthusiastic this morning. I think Monday morning blues affects a lot of people. There is a negativity about Mondays. This morning it is cold and dreary and the stock market traders in the city of London are selling not buying. I’ll try to think positive. (more…)
We are all familiar with the seasons changing, the autumn colours and the winter snow, but there are other cyclical changes that we are less aware of. There are cyclical changes in politics and in our personal lives. We make new friends and lose old friends and life goes on. (more…)
I went out yesterday to take photographs in the sunshine and do some shopping. Things didn’t go to plan. The shopping wasn’t too bad, although I made mistakes and bought a couple of items I didn’t need. I messed up the photography too, but in the end I took a few pictures of the trams. (more…)
It’s a sad fact that we can’t be happy all the time. We can try to achieve a happy medium and feel contented. We tend to view things as relative, there are tall people, because they are taller than shorter people. If we were all the same height, short or tall, we wouldn’t know if we were short or tall! (more…)
I went to Tipton Carnival yesterday and took lots of photos, but others were there to have fun and enjoy themselves. Unfortunately, with all the temptation of a carnival to spend money, fun and finance are inextricably linked.
Our perceptions of life and the world we live in depends on how hard we’re finding it. When we’re struggling we become focused on the task in hand, trying desperately to make life easier. There are many people on Easy Street, but far more people struggling in Britain today. (more…)
In the wild there are predators and prey. It’s Darwin’s survival of the fittest as the animals try to survive individually and collectively. The lion is part of pride and has no feelings about the suffering of it’s prey as it rips through it’s flesh with it’s razor sharp teeth. The heart of the lion beats just like our own. (more…)
When I had influenza, I needed a little fresh air so I went out for a while and took this photo of the tree changing colour as autumn passes. I like writing and I like wandering around taking photos, so I’m doing what I like to do. (more…)
I photographed some narrow-boats yesterday, they were very colourful. I talked to the owners and they were quite colourful too. They have chosen a slower, alternate way of life, travelling the canals and trading where they can to make a living. (more…)
I was out for a leisurely Sunday drive yesterday and I took a wrong turning and became quite anxious about it. I saw a warning telling me to stay away from the motorway and then I turned to head home and the road was closed. I followed a diversion and it took me in the opposite direction that I wanted to go. (more…)
Today’s picture is of the River Tame. The bridleway runs along side of the river for a few miles and comes to Forge Mill lake. When I was young I would have walked along there or cycled. It’s a bit more of a struggle now, but I can still enjoy the scenery. Our behaviour and our ideas change as we get older. (more…)
Many people struggle just to make a living. If you have time and money left over to enjoy life, then that is a bonus. We have to make the most of the life we have regardless of what luck gives us or life throws at us. (more…)
I went to the art gallery on Sunday. Why? Well it was open for one thing. That’s important in people’s lives, opportunity. If people don’t have the opportunity to do things, then they might as well stay at home and watch some mind numbingly boring soap on Sunday afternoon. I usually go out and take photos on a Sunday afternoon, but last week it was cold and wet. (more…)
Sometimes we have to sell ourselves to get what we want in life, such as getting a job or even acquiring new friends. There are many ways to sell a used car and there are many ways to present yourself to a prospective employer. (more…)
Many people search for happiness but find it elusive. We seem to need new sensations, new music, new tastes and new things to look at. We need music with unusual harmonies and beats. We need new stories to make our lives interesting. Is the key to happiness to keep searching for something new? (more…)
