Pragmatism in the development of ideas.

Pragmatism

Pragmatism: A reasonable and logical way of doing things or of thinking about problems that is based on dealing with specific situations instead of on ideas and theories.

I tend to favour a pragmatic approach to life. I see a lot of idealism in politics with little thought to actually testing new ideas to see if they work. Then when an idea ends in utter failure, which the policy of forced austerity has, we move on to some new idea, based on another spurious theory. (more…)


Dreaming of a lottery win? #life

I don’t usually do things on a whim, I tend to plan but I bought a lottery ticket for the Wednesday draw this week. No, I didn’t win, but I got two numbers and so a free lucky dip for tonight’s draw. My odds of winning tonight have halved, I have 2 tickets, but the odds are still over 20M to one. (more…)

Today’s picture is a composite of images of the local park. It looks nice doesn’t it? It was landscaped from land used for mining. The ‘Mount’ was actually a pit bank of clay. Now it’s a beautiful Victorian park, but over the years, it’s been changing. So too have many of our Victorian buildings. (more…)
