There are lots of places to go for a picnic where I live in England. This park is a good place, because they have tables with benches. Notice the litter bin on the left too. Use it! You don’t need a picnic basket, but they are useful if there is a few of you. You can make the picnic simple or go for caviar and champagne.
The Aldi super-six this week are celery, cucumbers, lemons (3), spring onions, tomatoes (6) and garlic (4). They are all 49p each. They haven’t changed from last week, but their website has. There is a lot more on there.
Sometimes, I’m inspired to write by places, such as this lake I photographed on Sunday. It was a typical summer’s day in the English countryside and people were having picnics at the side of the river. The stuff of great English novelists, like Jane Austen. Jane Austen captured the mood of the time she wrote in, when picnics in the countryside would have been more important than today. There were few forms of entertainment in those days and a day out would have inspired memories to be treasured. (more…)
