On my mind #ramble

It is Sunday morning and so once again I share a few thoughts with you. What’s on my mind this week? Too much! I was having weird dreams last night, I had so much whirring through my mind. I’ve had a lot of criticism this year and most of it has been politically motivated. I get caught between the loony left and the loony right. I just try to contribute to the community. I do that by taking writing, taking photos and managing social media. On Friday I was photographing the Christmas lights switch-on. Yes, I photographed politicians but that doesn’t mean I support all their policies. In fact I support some right-wing policies such as Donald Trump’s corporation tax cuts. That doesn’t make me an American Republican. If they implement austerity to pay for those tax cuts, I will condemn them.

Rain-rain, go away, I want sunshine today! #ramble

Yes, it’s Sunday morning and so once again I share my thoughts with you. You can guess what I have on my mind this morning from my title. Yes, rain-rain is spoiling my day. I’m going out later and there is the re-dedication of the war memorial tonight. I haven’t been asked to take photos but I was last year so I might inquire if I am needed.

Objects of desire #ramble #art

It’s Sunday morning again and so once again I share my thoughts with you. This is what I do, I write and I also do social media and photography. I produce content and many of my friends who understand social media will know why content is king! Interaction is important on social media. People interact with their friends and on Facebook pages, they interact with the admins. I had to ban a couple of people from one Facebook page I am admin of yesterday and it was with deep regret. They waged a vendetta for over a year against me. If I have a disagreement with someone, I try to forget it and move on. Life is too short and hating people consumes you. Anyway, moving on, I have photography and art on my mind this week.

Art on my mind #ramble #art

Yes, it’s Sunday morning again, it soon rolls around. Once again I’m going to let you into the labyrinth of neurons that is my mind and share my thoughts with you. One of the reasons I go to art galleries is for inspiration but I’m not an artist in the traditional sense. My art is writing and photography. Yes, once again, I have art on my mind. Art is about communication.  Artists throughout the ages have tried to communicate with the people who will view their works in the galleries of the world. We now have a new medium to communicate with people and it’s called the internet.

Art for arts sake #ramble #art

It is Sunday morning and so once again I share my thoughts with you. Blogging is about sharing thoughts and keeping a log. I tend to write about things like photography and I do have photography on my mind today but I’m thinking of it as an art in itself. Today, I start my art project and I want People, Places and Things. The people are the easy bit. I want photos of people looking like they should look in a particular role. For example, I hope to take photos of narrow boat owners next week. I have a few places in mind like the canal and my local pool.

What is going on? #ramble

It is Sunday morning again and so what is going on in my head this week? I’m always interested in what is going on in other people’s heads. What motivates them to behave the way they do? Is it money? Is it power? Do they aspire to a higher social status? What is going on?

What is going on?

Lost in the labyrinth of life #ramble

It is Sunday morning and so once again I allow you into the dark and mysterious labyrinth that is my mind and share my thoughts with you.  What’s on my mind this week? I’ve been getting embroiled in local politics a bit. Being a pragmatic sort of person who believes in going with the flow and the superiority of the natural laws, especially the one that says we should allow things to evolve naturally. I am ignoring a lot of the political posturing and looking for ideas that are just one step towards a goal that we all want. The problem is, identifying the goal. We can get lost in the labyrinth of life and find it hard to find our way. Time for a picture, I think…

People, places and things #ramble #art

Why do I like this photo? I keep looking at photos that I’ve taken and asking, why? Why is this a good shot and that one isn’t? Why do I like this shot and not that shot? Sometimes the photos can be almost identical but I favour one over the other. Often I see a shot and know it will be a good one but most of the time I’m just taking photos.

Look at the time! #ramble #photography

It’s Sunday morning and so here I go trying to write another Sunday morning ramble. I was out early yesterday photographing narrowboats on the canal. I was even invited to join their tour but that involved walking up some abandoned locks and I know how steep that hill is! It’s a nice day again today and so I’ll be out taking photos again this afternoon. I usually start writing at about nine a clock, but today I thought, look at the time; it was after ten!

Look at the time. I wanted to photograph that boat under the bridge!

Strange ideas and brain chemicals #ramble

It’s Sunday morning and so I allow you a glimpse into the mind of a serial thinker and ideas person; me. The human brain works on chemicals that can make us feel happy or sad or bring back happy memories or painful memories. Dopamine is the one that zaps the reward centres of our brain and that can be quite addictive. I find it quite difficult to stop eating dark chocolate sometimes and I have to really restrict myself when it comes to beer. Both of these things can lead to strange ideas. Time for a picture…

New year and so some new plans #ramble

So it’s 2017, I wasn’t expecting to live this long or I would have looked after myself better. Last night my phone said ‘emergency calls only’. I thought maybe the network was overloaded with people wishing each other happy new year. It seems the sim has developed a fault. I have ordered a new one online. My new year isn’t off to a very good start.

Bokeh and other blurred things #ramble

It’s Sunday morning and so once again I share my thoughts with readers. Today, I have bokeh on my mind. What’s that? I think it’s Japanese for blur; anyway, it’s what photographers call the blur in some wide aperture photos like the one below. I want to get sharp portraits with blur in the background. I also want to be able to take better photos under fluorescent lights so I ordered a special filter.  In fact, I ordered a set for my 35mm prime lens and another set for my 18 to 105mm lens. At least I didn’t buy a new camera or a lens. I have some self-control; not enough to resist buying a light meter, though.

Communication and other worries

It’s Sunday morning and so time for another ramble when I allow you into the deepest recesses of my mind and tell you what I’ve been thinking about this week. As usually, I’m concerned with the weather because I have washing on the line. I’ve also been concerned with my health and with communication.

Nostalgia on a Sunday #ramble

Tipton canal - nostalgia for a bygone age.

It’s Sunday and so once again I’m sharing my thoughts before I turn my hand to cooking lunch. I’ve been thinking about the days when we had brass bands playing in the park, we read books and listened to the wireless. Nostalgia is all well and good, but we have to look forward and progress. Sunny Sunday #ramble

Disaster?

My outing last Sunday wasn’t a disaster but the light is quite harsh for photography in early afternoon. I intend to have another go at landscape photography today, but I think I might wait and go out a little later. (more…)

Zoom with two fingers? #ramble

2 fingers to zoom

I have figured out the way zoom on my touchpad works in Windows 10. Yes, us computer users have to start learning the smartphone actions. It could help me learn how to use the zoom on a smartphone, I suppose… (more…)

Thinking about the weather #ramble

On a Sunday, I ramble on about whatever is on my mind. Today, it’s the weather amongst other things. We might have a little snow later this week. It’s cold this morning so I might have to sort out my Arctic gear! (more…)

It’s Sunday morning and so as usual I’ll let you into the dusty pathways of my mind and just write about whatever I find there! For most of my life I have felt misunderstood, I think everyone does at some time… (more…)
