As the year draws to a close #Wednesbury

I hope everyone in Wednesbury had a great Christmas but now we have to look to the future. What will 2017 bring? There will be some changes with a few companies opening up new premises in or around Wednesbury. Lidl will have a new warehouse and so too will DFS. There will be a new car showroom to replace Carcraft and there are interesting developments on the Gallagher retail park. We also hope to get better Christmas lights next year,  too!

Last minute Christmas presents #thrifty

We know a few people will be looking around for last minute presents before the big day. A little luxury can be a good idea, so buy them something they would like but wouldn’t normally buy. I bought luxury chocolates in Aldi yesterday. I won’t say who they were for! They make a good last minute present and you don’t have to buy a huge box. The same applies to a quality scotch whisky or an unusual but quality ale.

Salad days #thrifty

This week’s Aldi super-six has a few things for those summer salads. Cucumber, beetroot (500g), spring onions (100g), radish (250g), Iceberg lettuce and baby plum tomatoes (275g) are just the thing for summer salads and are just 29p each. A nice salad with some barbecued chicken is healthy. (more…)


Thrifty Thursday–more winter savings

The super-six at Aldi this week are; parsnips (500g), avocado, new potatoes (750g), button mushrooms (150g), red onions (1kg) and butternut squash. They are all 49p each. The same as last week. I think I’ll have more parsnips and cook a warming winter stew. I’ve been clearing snow, I need warming food! (more…)
