The British parliament voted this week to extend bombing to Syria and the FTSE 100 dropped two percentage points the next day. Coincidence? Not likely. We can invest in bombs and bullets or we can invest in building things that will benefit humanity. I would prefer to invest in research to cure cancer. (more…)

The advances in technology have changed my life dramatically over the past 30 years. I think it’s probably changed the lives of most people in western countries. I can chat to people in other countries and take photos like the one above, even in the dark. I’m even joined the smart phone set this weekend…
Looking into the future
Life in the UK has changed beyond recognition in the past 100 years. 100 years ago we were at war with Germany and lessons from that war weren’t learnt; another world war followed less than 20 years later. People now appear to be better off materially. We have better hospitals and heath care; but we still have problems and some are getting worse.
