Thrifty Thursday | Looking for Spring bargains
The Aldi super-six this week are salad potatoes (1Kg), green beans (220g), oranges, pineapple, large vine tomatoes (450g) and cauliflower. They are all 69p each. The same as last week.
Today’s special buys include lots of stuff for cyclists and some gardening items too. The bicycle lighting set is only 2.99. The Sunday special buys are tools and gardening items again. The 3 in 1 lubricants sprays are good.
Some of the everyday essentials are good at Aldi. I have those oven chips and cook them in my Philips Air-fryer. I had some black currant high juice (1.09) last week and I dilute it with the fizzy spring water (8 litres for 99p). I might go to Aldi again this afternoon. I think I’ll have a fresh chicken again. If I cook one for the weekend, it’ll save me cooking so much.
I have a B&Q just down the road from my house, it seems expensive, but there isn’t a lot of competition here. You have to consider delivery charges and the cost of petrol when you’re thinking of shopping around. I might get a petrol strimmer from there, I need something a bit more powerful for my garden!
There lots of multi-buys at Matalan and offers. I like the linen shirts, they always look cool and stylish in summer. They’re on offer so I might pop in there one of the days too.
The price of petrol where I live has dropped a little, so that’s my cue to fill up. I’ve haven’t put any in since March!
We have to think about free days out now the weather’s getting better. I have a couple of free days out lined up. I’ve be visiting a community farm and nature reserve and photographing the lake and river nearby. I also have a fun day at the university to go to as well. There are also a lot of free museums and art galleries that are worth a visit. I also take my camera to parks and get interesting photos.
I found a cheap MP3/MP4 player on Amazon today. The reviews are mixed but for the money as long as it works it’s a bargain. My MP3 player is years old and was very expensive. It uses batteries really quickly. I would be tempted to buy a new one, but I don’t listen to it very often. I did get my money’s worth out of mine when I used it to keep my nerves calm before surgery. A couple of hours of Mozart and the anaesthetist said I was fine. I didn’t need sedating. I suppose it made it better, I could come home when it was all over!
Don’t forget to check out local markets and the little shops for bargains too. My local market has started a Thursday market, I’ll have to check that out.
That’s all for today. Please comment and share your thoughts with the world…
