We dont always get what we deserve in life

wheelchair or sports car

Maybe the kid in the wheelchair in this picture is happy and the guys in the sports cars are unhappy; but I doubt it. We don’t always get what we deserve in life. We can be born disabled, sick or we can just be born into a dysfunctional family. It is so much better to be born into privilege, education and money. Life sucks for so many people and the ones in the sports cars tend to have a ‘I’m alright Jack attitude’.

Preparing to save money in winter was my blog yesterday about preparing for winter. I forgot to mention trying to stop pipes freezing too. Sometimes you can turn the water off to hosepipes and things or improve lagging. We have to prepare for the cold weather, it could be a harsh winter.

Cooking for people who can’t cook was my Thursday blog aimed at people who can’t cook and need to cook for themselves to save money. There was some easy ideas in that post like things on toast and baked potatoes.

What is art? was my Wednesday blog and asked the question. Art is of course, the result of talent, someone doing something quite clever and giving us something aesthetic, that we want to look at. I don’t think Damien Hirst’s pickled sheep quite cut it. The butterflies were a bit of a disappointment too. I think it’s unlikely that he will send his diamond encrusted skull to Walsall Art gallery for us to see. That’s more Tate Modern than the back end of Walsall.

Neodigital Art | Inspired was another art blog inspired by my visit to Walsall Art gallery. I took a photo of the pickled sheep for that blog. One day they will give me an exhibition; it’ll probably be a posthumous  exhibition, but I’m not too fussy. Just don’t expect me to come…

How to develop in the 21st century was my Monday psychology blog. We all need personal development to improve ourselves and make tomorrow better than today.

Leadership and Art was my Sunday ramble last week, before I went to Walsall art galley to see the pickled sheep. I seem to have been inspired, I had a very artistic week.

I hope to take more photographs this weekend. I don’t know where I’ll be going, but the weather forecast is better than it was.

With the latest announcements of energy price rises in the UK, many of us will have to have our own austerity programs. So I’ll keep trying to come up with money saving ideas, thrifty information and frugal tips to save a few quid. I was reminded this week that it’s worse in Greece and some other European countries. Meanwhile, some countries have low tax rates, because they have all the oil. I hope they put some of the money away to buy food next time they have a drought. Maybe when they have a drought and food shortages we can hold them to ransom, like they do to us when we need oil and gas?

I’ll be back tomorrow with another Sunday ramble. There are more blogs on the home page, please click share or like. You can also comment or follow me on Twitter.

  1. Lines from a Rolling Stones tune come to mind. It’s one of my all-time favorites–right behind “Sympathy for the Devi.” Mick sings, “You can’t always get what you want, but if you try (a breath, a pause, or a comma must be read in here), sometimes (synonym: infrequently) you get what you need.” And, I would add, what we need is usually 180 degrees from what we want.

    • Hi Connye,

I agree that we should concentrate more on what we need rather than what we want. I usually get frustrated when I can’t give others what they need in life.

Thanks for the comment. I need a little encouragement today! :)

    Hi Mike,

The first para of this post is so impressive and a message of all of us. We sometimes do not get what we deserve in our life. However, we can obtain it by grace of God and our hard working. I do believe and I have experience that several people with disabilities are happy and they do not have any complain. But some non-disabled people try to make them unhappy through their attitude. People keep asking the questions and try to dominate them. It is more in Indian culture and may be in other places of the world.

I like your ideas and posts, which gives a space for think in a different way.

    • Hi Sujata,

That was a very brief paragraph, but I think the picture said it all. People struggle sometimes to get a decent wheelchair and others can spend a small fortune on a sports car. That scene was poignant in more ways than one, because the cars had to stop to allow the family with the boy in the wheelchair to cross the road. That isn’t a big inconvenience, but I think they might have been displeased. As a blogger I hope to change attitudes, one word at a time…
