What is going on? #ramble

It is Sunday morning again and so what is going on in my head this week? I’m always interested in what is going on in other people’s heads. What motivates them to behave the way they do? Is it money? Is it power? Do they aspire to a higher social status? What is going on?

What is going on?

Food and sex

Animals are uncomplicated, they are mostly interested in food and sex. They are driven by survival and I think deep down humans are driven in the same way but we often see money as essential to our survival. Animals will also choose fight or flight when presented with a threat. Humans do the same but in a more complex manner. We complicate everything and that is why I often ask; what is going on?

What is going on?

I tend to want simple things like good food, a quiet life and the odd can of beer. Other people are driven by greed and ambition. It is true that I have always been a bit ambitious, I’m taking a more serious interest in art now. I took today’s picture as part of my research into images that people can relate to. It is a fairly innocuous interest and much better than going around raving at people in psychotic tantrum. I’m not much for losing my temper but bottling up the anger and frustration I sometimes feel isn’t good for me. What is going on with some people that they get so angry about things and rave? Perhaps it is a symptom, but a symptom of what? A symptom of modern life or a symptom of a mental illness brought on by some unknown and traumatic deprivation. What is going on? Are we to be traumatised by people who attack us with aggressive diatribes just because they have been traumatised?

What is going on?

What is going on with young people? It seems the ones who live in the same town as me are giving up their reliance on cannabis for their social pleasures and are now turning to nitrous oxide. They fill balloons with the stuff and breathe it in. They are having networking events on car parks around the town and sharing their balloon filling tips. We had a balloon modeller entertaining the children in the town a few months ago. Did he put ideas into their young minds? Did they go away fantasising about alternative ways they could also use balloons? What is going on with these kids?

Global warming?

What is going on with the weather? Global warming is causing the sea to evaporate and that forms clouds which in turn come inland and form rain. That rain falls and then starts to evaporate again and has a cooling effect. Global warming is making it bloody colder! It was bad enough when the winter was cold and damp, now it’s all year around.

I do have a picture in an art exhibition and plans for more involvement in the art world. I have actually reviewed art exhibitions but becoming an artist when I can’t even draw matchstick men with any great skill is difficult. Fortunately, we have some technology to help these days and despite my advancing years, I’m not too inept at using a digital camera and computer. You do have to imagine what you want to do before you do it and recognise an opportunity when you see one. I think today’s picture was a result of recognising an opportunity to take a good shot.

That’s all for today. I don’t think I’ll be getting the opportunity to take any shots today unless the weather improves.
