Wide aperture and spot focus

I didn’t take any photos this weekend, so I’m using more photos today from the fun day last week. This one was shot with a wide aperture and fast shutter speed and it was after I’d fitted the warm filter.

The wide aperture gets the subject in sharp focus. The same technique is used for wildlife photos of birds and animals.

Spot focusing on the subject will put the subject in focus, but even things in the foreground as well as the background,

A wide aperture will allow for a fast shutter speed that will capture the action, which is ideal for events and sports.

Focusing on just one spot through a crowd makes for an interesting picture, try it on wildlife too.

Looking at people’s hair tells you a lot about whether the subject is in sharp focus or not. I think it would be worth cropping the original picture to get the subject centred in the picture. The original is 6000 px x 4,000 px. This one has been resized for the internet.
